Bergen was awarded for the best hostport in 2001. We intend to surpass ourselves in 2008, with a full programme of activities for all tastes and ages. The ships will be berthed at inner harbour, in the midst of the cities everyday life, and in walking distance from almost everything, including our nearby mountains.

In 2008, Bergen will again be an experience of a lifetime for the crews, and a fabulous background for media coverage. 

Some facts

• Every year, between 70 and 100 tall ships from over 20 countries gather for The Tall Ships`Races. More than 3000 young sailors from more than 30 countries are working onboard as crew. 
• The Tall Ships' Races is organised by Sail Training International.
• The official ports for The Tall Ships' Races 2008 are, LIVERPOOL (UK), MÅLØY (N),  BERGEN (N), and DEN HELDER (NL) 
• This year's theme is: 'A voyage of self discovery'.
• Sail Training International manages the race.
• The cities and the ports organise the landbased activities.
